I just returned from eating at the Chelsea location of Chama Mamma, and it was fantastic. This was my second visit to Chama Mamma, but my first time at this vibrant location, and I can confidently say it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was inviting and warm, perfect for a relaxed evening. The vibe was lively yet comfortable, making it a great place to unwind. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating stories about Georgian culture and the origins of our dishes and wine. We started with the Khachapuri, and let me tell you--this dish is a game changer! The gooey, cheesy goodness was simply out of this world. We also tried the Khinkali (pork and beef), which were perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavor. The megruli kharcho was rich and comforting, showcasing the depth of Georgian cuisine. To top it all off, we enjoyed a delightful cappuccino and a bottle of red wine that complemented our meal beautifully. The service was attentive without being intrusive, allowing us to savor every bite and sip in a truly relaxed setting. I can't recommend Chama Mamma enough! If you're looking for an authentic taste of Georgia in a charming atmosphere, this is the place to be.
Delicious unique food that leans on the vegetarian side Service was great even sitting in the covered outdoors section Ambiance was bright and clean Would definitely come back
2nd time I've been here despite the $$$. But everytime I'm here, I'm willing to spend some bucks!!! Ugh I love everything about Chama Mama. Ambiance is open, luxurious, and beautiful. Eating inside is very nice, but I love their outdoor section so much!! I could study there and talk to friends all day. This is what we ordered: Tarragon Lemonade - NEVER TASTED ANYTHING LIKE IT AND IT IS SO REFRESHING Pineapple-Basil Lemonade - also tastes delicious. I love the way they did all the lemonades. ***CRISPY SMASHED POTATOES - YOU GUYS NEED TO ORDER THIS, IT IS SO GOOD!!!!! Unique flavors and sosososo crispy. Adjaruli Khachapuei - a signature dish at Chama Mama, delicious and very cheesy! Bring your lactaid pills my lactose-intolerant friends. They do a cool mixing performance for you which makes it look even yummier. Imeruli Khachapuri - tastes great! This dish is also extremely cheesy, so I recommend to get only one cheesy dish and try other types of dishes. All their different flavors complement each other so well. Mushroom Soup - this flavoring reminds me of some of my favorite Asian soups. So good! And the salad paired with it is really nice to eat with the other dishes ordered. It also has unique flavors Eggplant Pkhali - yummy! My least favorite dish out of everything we got, but this is a good side dish to mix with your other foods (personal preference). Service wise, our waitress was very sweet and attentive! I love the menus too because you can see photos of everything on the menu, so you can really order with your eyes
My friends and I wanted to try some Georgian food after our flight & were delighted by Chama Mama. The place is beautifully decorated with attentive staff. They were even able to hold our suitcases for us. Food was absolutely delicious. This was our first time trying Georgian food and loved everything we ordered. The Taste of Georgia had a variety of spreads paired with fresh bread. The Adjaruli Khachapuri was rich and well balanced. Would definitely come back again to try other dishes.
Chama Mama is one of the most celebrated restaurants in the United States, offering an intimate dining experience rich with the culture and traditions of ancient Georgia. This vibrant place is a culinary journey through Georgian flavors, colors, and history, with classic Georgian cuisine presented with a modern twist. A highlight of Chama Mama is their variety of Khachapuri, Georgia's famous cheese-filled bread. The word "puri" means bread in Georgian, and "Khachapuri" takes it to another level with its delightful cheese fillings. The most famous is the Adjaruli Khachapuri, featuring a bubbling hot mixture of cheese and an egg--stirring it together tableside is both interactive and delicious! If you're a fan of vegetarian options, the Imeruli Khachapuri is a must-try. Originating from the Imereti region, this dish features Chama Mama's signature dough filled with a special cheese blend. It's arguably the best Khachapuri you'll ever have. For those who love sharing, there's a delightful assortment of Pkhali (traditional vegetable pâtés) and other vegetable dishes, perfectly paired with fresh bread and cheese. Make sure to ask for gluten-free (GF) options if needed. And, of course, don't miss out on their freshly baked bread with fenugreek, served with sunflower oil and spicy Adjika--it's a simple yet unforgettable treat. To finish off your meal, try the dessert platter, perfect for sharing with friends and family. It includes a delicious selection of Georgian sweets like Pelamushi, Honey Cake, Napoleon, and Chocolate Velvet--all on one plate. At Chama Mama, every dish tells a story, and every meal is an opportunity to experience the rich culinary heritage of Georgia.
A great Georgian place - not that NYC has that many to begin with. I liked the boat cheese bread and the meat dumplings (forgot the name). Don't get the mushroom dumplings - the stuffing tasted strange. The Georgian salad was also good. Overall, solid place. Chic and casual. Could be a good date spot.
First time having Georgian food. Really enjoyed most of the various appetizers and mains we tried. This is a fairly big spot, with a little outdoor courtyard in the back. The service was pretty slow on the night we went which was a bit frustrating but the staff were all friendly. Probably would try another spot next time I wanted to return to Georgian cuisine, but this place wasn't bad or anything.
The food was great! It was my first time having Georgian food and I was not disappointed. The main standout for me was all the breading --super fragrant and full of gluten. The lobiani is a must get and the chicken curry was amazing as well.
I'm not familiar with Georgian food but after going to Chama Mama I am a super fan. Service was top notch and they took good care of our large group of friends. We tried several dishe - a taste of Georgia (pkhali), adjaruli khachapuri, kubdari, khinkali (dumplings), and the dessert platter. My top two favorite dishes were the kubdari and the khachapuri. The honey cake was also a hit. 10/10 would come back here again.
